Together,
we will make it.

Before COVID-19, people who were already living in vulnerable situations are now unable to work and feed their families. Additionally, as schools have been closed children are at home without food and other basic necessities. Food and hygiene products have become unaffordable for families and children, which complicates their HIV treatment.

The issue

Nutritional care and support are extremely important for people who are HIV positive, especially children and young people at the early stages of infection, to prevent nutritional deficiencies and to help maintain healthy body weight. Before COVID-19, people who were already living in vulnerable situations are now unable to work and feed their families. Additionally, as schools have been closed children are at home without food and other basic necessities. Now, food and hygiene products have become unaffordable for families and children, which complicates their HIV treatment.

Your support is critical:

With your support we will ensure:
- Families have food to survive through the Covid-19 pandemic.
- The effectiveness of HIV treatment will be maintained and the rate of new infections reduced.

Our

Without our amazing partners and supporters, KCA wouldn't be able to make this possible.

When Keep a Child Alive became involved with WE-ACTx (Women’s Equity in Access to Care and Treatment), the effects of the 1994 genocide that swept across Rwanda were still very much evident - WE-ACTx provides medical care for displaced women and children, including many rape survivors who contracted HIV as a result of the violent attacks. A decade since its founding, WE-ACTx has grown. Beyond providing high-quality HIV care and treatment, WE-ACTx is set apart by their intensive psychosocial and mental health services. They also lead the way in Rwanda in services for youth, providing a range of skills-training and income-generating activities, as well as youth and peer education programs.
