Venezuela is in the midst of a deep humanitarian crisis. Over 65% of people here are living in poverty. Children have stopped going to school - they can’t concentrate, because they are going hungry. Venezuela is now considered the poorest country in South America.
KCA will provide emergency supplies to 1,213 families in Venezuela, with the support of For a Brighter Venezuela and ALSI Foundation. These emergency supply baskets, which include nutritious food and hygiene products., will be delivered to families who need it most.
For $20, it will provide a child and their family with a month’s supply of food, and also a hygiene kit.
The collapse in Venezuela has been a long time coming. Political instability, breakdown and fragmentation of the State, social violence, failure of development policies, the collapse of the formal economy, social inequalities and underlying poverty, has plunged the country into a complex humanitarian crisis. More than 5 million people have been forced to flee. The desperate situation in Venezuela has been made worse by the COVID-19 pandemic. The spread of COVID-19 is having a major impact on people, communities, and education systems. A huge number of the already-struggling population have lost their income and means to obtain food.
Your support is critical:
With your contribution we will ensure: - Significantly improve the nutritional and food intake of students and families of the Madre Alberta Giménez School from Fe y Alegría. It is located in Cumaná, Sucre State, one of the poorest areas in Venezuela. - Help maintain the community spirit around the Fe y Alegria school. Having enough to eat will help ensure students can focus and be ready to learn.
Without our amazing partners and supporters, KCA wouldn't be able to make this possible.
